Namibia Travel: Vast Landscapes, Safaris & Coastal Adventures
With a population of only around three million, Namibia is the least densely populated safari destination in Africa, offering vast open landscapes and a true sense of space. Endless roads lead to incredible destinations, from the towering dunes of the iconic Sossusvlei to the wildlife-rich plains of parks such as Etosha National Park.
One of my personal highlights in Etosha was watching rhinos, elephants, giraffes and zebras arrive one by one at a floodlit waterhole at night, as if perfectly choreographed, while relaxing with a glass of South African white wine — a magical moment that captured the diversity and calm of Namibia’s wildlife. Every day felt different, with a new landscape and adventure waiting — from the dramatic Fish River canyon to the wild Atlantic coastline, where beaches are packed with seals.
For a more tranquil escape, the often-overlooked Caprivi Strip offers relaxing riverside stays and wildlife spotting by boat in lush surroundings far removed from the desert scenery. With few cars on the roads, Namibia is ideal for self-drive adventures with a selection of beautifully located lodgings. For those with extra time, it pairs perfectly with Botswana to explore more of southern Africa’s extraordinary wildlife and landscapes.
